Data Thursday’s arrived a day early

Ladies and gents. It's just two days until Culture Hack Scotland 2012.

Stephen Thiel, Understanding Shakespeare (beautiful project, well worth a look.)

In a bid to give you more than a few hours to build ideas around the last few datasets we’re providing you with, we’ve mutated Wednesday into Thursday. So here’s your final Data Thursday instalment. Enjoy.

Today we’ve got a gem of a set for you courtesy of EDINA. You may have noticed the World Shakespeare Festival has just kicked off. Even if you haven’t, you’ve probably heard of Macbeth. We’ve got an xml version of the script for you, with associated data listing out characters and locations in the play. The Sync team think this is exciting. We can think of a million and one things to do with it. You?

Edinburgh Festivals have also joined the party – and why wouldn’t they after such a fantastic first year. Head on over to their data page for some 2011 and 2012 listings.

Also new this week: data from a living, breathing crowd-sourced project called My Favourite Place, courtesy of the Scottish Book Trust. And: databases from publishing house Birlinn, including information about their many authors, the books they’ve written and the events they’re speaking at.
