University of Edinburgh

This is a whack of environmental data from the Energy Office at the University of Edinburgh. It’s a very very granular set illustrating energy use in the festival venues owned by the University. Nice.

Download a slice of this data here (csv).

What is the University of Edinburgh?

Well you all know the answer to that question. So let’s talk about the Energy Office:

The Energy Office is part of the University’s Estates & Buildings Works Division. Among other things, we are responsible for: procuring the University’s electricity, gas, oil and water supplies; carrying out energy surveys and audits; identifying energy waste and making recommendations to reduce this; raising levels of energy awareness amongst staff and students through the Switch and Save Energy Reduction Campaign.

Additionally we provide consumption and cost information for management reporting purposes, support colleagues on energy conservation issues, liaise with external organisation on energy best practice, and assess new energy saving technologies.

This data is all relating to Edinburgh University venues which double as festival venues.

What is the University of Edinburgh interested in?

We’re keen to encourage other venues to share their data as openly as this.

We’d also like to find creative ways of incentivising low energy use other than basic monitoring.
